Sergey Kovalev vs Eleider Alvarez Live Stream Boxing

This Saturday is the return of one of boxing’s notable names today when Sergey Kovalev (32-2-1; 28 KOs) takes on Eleider Alvarez (23-0; 11 KOs). The fight is for the WBO Light Heavyweight (175 lbs.) title. Ring Magazine ranks Kovalev at #1 in the division, #9 pound for pound, with Alvarez as the #5 Light Heavyweight. The fight takes place this Saturday, August 4 and airs on HBO with a fight time of 10:00 p.m. ET. Also on the broadcast is WBA Light Heavyweight champ Dmitry Bivol vs. Isaac Chilemba.

Kovalev (32-2-1) is most recently coming into this fight off two consecutive stoppage wins over Vyacheslav Shabranskyy last November and Igor Mikhalkin this past March. Kovalev has been saying that he’s rededicated himself to the sport after letting the fame get to his head, and certainly not being lined-up against someone like Andre Ward will be beneficial.

Alvarez (23-0, 11 KOs) is coming off a majority decision win over Jean Pascal over a year ago, and while he’s been on the shelf for longer than ideal, he should be pretty fresh for this first shot at a major world title.

Kovalev vs. Alvarez fight card
Sergey Kovalev vs. Eleider Alvarez for Kovalev’s WBO Light Heavyweight title
Dmitry Bivol vs. Isaac Chilemba for Bivol’s WBA Light Heavyweight title

Prediction
Alvarez will make Kovalev work, but in the end, expect the champion to show why he is the one with the belts. Kovalev’s power and skill should, over the course of the fight, prove too much for Alvarez, who hasn’t fought in over a year.
